N52 magnets are the most powerful magnets on the market, although there are other stronger magnets developed in the lab. Having the top level of maximum energy product 50-53 MGOe or 398-422 kJ/m^3, they are regularly used in high performance and/or miniature applications such as electronic products, micro sensors and automobiles.
Most of N52 magnets have round, block and ring shapes, other irregular magnets including trapezoid, triangle, step and conical shapes can also be produced as per custom requirements.
N52 magnets maximum working temperature is 80 degrees Celsius or 176 degrees Fahrenheit. However, their long term operating temperature is recommended not to exceed 60-70 degrees Celsius. For higher temperature applications, grade N52M, N52H and N52SH materials are also available, in which N52H magnets and N52SH magnets are produced by grain boundary diffusion process.
N52 Magnets Magnetic Properties
N52 magnets mean neodymium magnets with typical maximum energy product of 52 MGOe, whose energy level is the highest among rare earth magnets.
Table 1. N52 Magnets Magnetic Properties at Room Temperature (20 °C)
Material Characteristics | CGS Unit | SI Unit |
Maximum Energy Product (BH)max | 50-53 MGOe | 398-422 kJ/m^3 |
Remanence Br | 14.2-14.8 kGs | 1.42-1.48 T |
Coercivity Hcb | ≥10.5 kOe | ≥836 kA/m |
Intrinsic Coercivity Hcj | ≥11 kOe | ≥876 kA/m |
It should be emphasized, N52 grade is only a neodymium magnet material performance classification, not a quality classification. Engineers achieve the N52 grade performance through corresponding formulations and processes. This is like, some customers use 10M broadband service, and some customers use 100M broadband service. Both 10M and 100M broadband services have no quality problems themselves, customers just choose the appropriate service according to their actual needs and costs.
